Virginia trout stocking
DWR posts specific stocking dates for some waters the week before stocking, and runs a stocking archive searchable by date. The department also maintains a public GIS map of designated stocked waters with a per-water stocking-frequency tier — the tier codes aren't explained in plain language on the pages we read, so we link to the map rather than reprint the codes.

We can't publish today's stocking as a fact on this page — DWR doesn't offer a feed we can read live, so any date we printed here could go stale or wrong. This is the fastest real answer:

Catchable-size trout are stocked October through May. A Virginia trout license is required on Designated Stocked Trout Waters from October 1 through June 15; not required June 16 through September 30.
