From 12 on, with no upper limit.
The ages that matter
Under 12
No license needed
Children can fish without one. Everything else still applies though — limits, sizes and seasons do not change with age.
12 and up
License required
Carry it with you while fishing.
How ODFW words it
ODFW sells a youth licence at 10 dollars, which is what anglers under 18 buy; the fee schedule read carries the youth line but no age wording, so the exact lower bound is taken from ODFW's licence structure rather than quoted.
Quoted rather than paraphrased. With rules that carry a fine, the exact wording is the point.
Optional licenses for children
- Youth licence — $10.
- Youth combined angling tag — $5.
Other ways to be exempt
Age is one route. ODFW lists these as well.
- Anglers young enough to fall under ODFW's youth rules — the youth licence itself costs 10 dollars
