How long your money lasts
DEC: a licence is "valid one full year (365 days) from the date of purchase or renewal". No fixed licence year, so a licence bought in October runs to the following October.
What we could not pin down
Rather than fill these in from somewhere else, they stay open until DEC states them plainly.
- DEC announces the year’s free fishing days in a press release, and dec.ny.gov refused every automated request to its press pages at retrieval. Its own events page still showed 2024 dates. The rule is therefore published without dates.
- Salt water is handled by a free registry rather than a licence. Whether anything is charged for the marine district in any circumstance was not established from the pages read.
- DEC sells lifetime licences to residents only. No prices were read and they are left out.
- The reduced and free licences for military, veterans and blind residents are listed by who qualifies; DEC states the conditions on a separate page that was not read in full.
