Nevada · Fishing license · Age
What age do you need a fishing license in Nevada?
From 12 on, with no upper limit.
The ages that matter
Under 12
No license needed
Children can fish without one. Everything else still applies though — limits, sizes and seasons do not change with age.
12 and up
License required
Carry it with you while fishing.
65 and up
Cheaper, not free
Nevada has no age exemption. Residents get a reduced rate instead: Annual senior hunt and fish combination (65+) at $15.
How NDOW words it
NDOW's price list splits its licences by age: the adult fishing licence covers "ages 18 & older" and the youth combination covers "ages 12-17". Below 12 no licence is sold, so a licence becomes necessary at 12.
Quoted rather than paraphrased. With rules that carry a fine, the exact wording is the point.
Optional licenses for children
- Annual youth hunt and fish combination (12 to 17) — $15. Bundles hunting and fishing for young anglers.
- Annual youth hunt and fish combination (12 to 17) — $15. Same price as for residents.
Other ways to be exempt
Age is one route. NDOW lists these as well.
