How much is a fishing license in New Mexico?
$35 a year if you live here, $90 if you don't. Fishing Forest Service or BLM water adds the compulsory 10-dollar habitat stamp, plus the 4-dollar access validation for anglers 18 and over.
Just passing through? One-day fishing costs $12 — the annual pays for itself from about 8 of those.

Fees inside the price
Two add-ons matter here: the 10-dollar habitat stamp is compulsory on Forest Service and BLM land, which covers most New Mexico fishing water, and the 4-dollar habitat management and access validation comes on top of it — it does not replace it. A per-transaction vendor fee applies to every purchase.
How long your money lasts
NMDOW: "Licenses are valid April 1 through March 31 of the following year." A licence bought in February is worth weeks, not months.
What we could not pin down
Rather than fill these in from somewhere else, they stay open until NMDOW states them plainly.
- The Gila trout permit costs nothing but is required at selected waters; it is not listed as a priced licence here.
