Questions people ask about Table Rock Lake
Answered from the same readings as the rest of this page. Where we have no basis for an answer, there is no entry — spot-by-spot local knowledge is not something we can claim for Table Rock Lake.
- Is it worth fishing Table Rock Lake today?
- 7 out of 10 — biting. Worth a cast. The strongest stretch is 3:02 AM–5:02 AM. That number is worked out fresh each morning from the solunar windows, the pressure trend, the water level.
- What time should you fish Table Rock Lake?
- Today's major windows run 3:02 AM–5:02 AM and 3:31 PM–5:31 PM, with minor windows at 11:10 AM–12:10 PM and 8:48 PM–9:48 PM. Sunrise is 7:07 AM and sunset 6:57 PM. A major landing on first or last light is the stretch worth setting an alarm for.
- What is the water temperature at Table Rock Lake?
- No gauge on Table Rock Lake measures it, so this is an estimate: roughly 67.5°F, worked out from the 7-day mean of air temperature at NOAA weather station KBBG (Branson). Checked against the lakes that do have a thermometer, that method lands within about 4.5°F of the real reading and was off by 8.3°F at worst. Treat it as a ballpark, not a measurement — and note the bite index above ignores it entirely, because an error that size would move the verdict as often as it would fix it.
- What is the water level at Table Rock Lake right now?
- 911.61 ft above NGVD-29, read at 9:00 AM from the Table Rock Dam - Headwater gauge run by the USACE. Over 24 hours it is down 0.05 ft.
- Are water levels rising or falling at Table Rock Lake?
- Falling. The lake is down 0.05 ft in 24 hours and down 0.30 ft over the week. Over the last 8 days it has held between 911.61 and 911.97 ft. Every figure here is a difference between two gauge readings, not a forecast — what the level does next depends on rain and on what the dam releases.
- Can you eat the fish you catch in Table Rock Lake?
- That is a health question and it belongs with the state, not with us. MO publishes fish consumption advisories through its health or environmental agency, and those are the ones that count. We give no eating advice.
- Do you need a licence to fish Table Rock Lake?
- Yes. A Missouri fishing permit covers this water, required from age 16. MDC sets the rules and is the one that counts.

The pool reading comes from the Corps of Engineers at Table Rock Dam, not from USGS — the gauge above the wall, measured against NGVD 29. The Corps puts the top of the flood pool at 931 ft and the bottom of the normal pool at 881 ft, which is the band this number moves in. The temperature and flow below the dam are release water from the turbines and are shown as such: in August that water runs around 50°F while the lake surface is thirty degrees warmer.
