June 6 and 7, 2026
MDC holds free fishing days on the Saturday and Sunday following the first Monday in June. No permit is needed on those days, but other rules such as limits and length restrictions still apply.
Confirmed on the agency's own page.
What a free day does not cover
- Bag limits, size limits and closed seasons are unchanged.
- Waters that are closed stay closed.
- Separate permits can still be required — Missouri charges for trout permit, resident, trout permit, nonresident, trout permit, ages 0 to 15, daily trout tag for trout parks, 16 and up, daily trout tag for trout parks, 15 and under. Check before you rely on a free day.
- A free day waives the permit, not the rules the permit comes with.
