How long your money lasts
Kansas counts from the day of purchase: the annual licences are "valid for one year from date of purchase", and the five-year versions for five. Only the calendar day licence is tied to a named day.
What we could not pin down
Rather than fill these in from somewhere else, they stay open until KDWP states them plainly.
- ksoutdoors.gov refused every automated request at first retrieval — curl and a rendered browser both got 403 from Akamai. Fees here come from K.A.R. 115-2-1 as published in the Kansas Register, effective 12 September 2025, and the licence requirement from K.S.A. 32-906. A later pass reached the site through a full browser session and confirmed the 2026 free fishing dates below — worth retrying the rest of this entry the same way at the next review.
- Kansas statute K.S.A. 32-988 only sets maximum fees and hands the actual figures to the secretary, so the statute alone would have been no use — the published regulation is what binds.
- The youth licence is a one-time purchase valid from 16 through 20. What it costs or covers if bought at 20 is not addressed in the regulation.
