How much is a fishing license in California?
$64.54 a year if you live here, $174.14 if you don't. Fishing the ocean south of Point Arguello adds the 7.30 ocean enhancement validation, and steelhead, sturgeon or lobster each need their own report card.
Just passing through? One day costs $21.09 — the annual pays for itself from about 9 of those.

What we could not pin down
Rather than fill these in from somewhere else, they stay open until CDFW states them plainly.
- CDFW lists the disabled-veteran licence as 10.04 to 10.54 without stating which item costs which. The lower figure is published here and the range is named in the note.
- Lifetime licences run from about 709 to 1,160.25 depending on the age band at purchase. The bands were not unambiguous at retrieval, so they are left out of the table rather than guessed.
